Government Shutdown Will Freeze the TTB

The federal government shutdown is upon us.  This is bad news for breweries, as the TTB is involved with breweries of all shapes and sizes.  This is especially bad for breweries that are waiting for TTB approval to open.  The process for new breweries to obtain their brewer’s notice is already too long (i.e., over 100 days).  Given that there is already a significant backlog of applications, these applications will continue to pile up during the shutdown.  Whenever the shutdown is over, the TTB will inevitably be left with an even bigger backlog of applications, making the average wait time for applicants even longer.
